“Emotion always has it’s roots in the unconscious and manifests itself in the body.”
Emotions. Feelings. Sensations. What do you do when these unexpectedly show up for you? For many of us, our first instinct is to push it aside or to push it down. “I don’t want to feel that way.” or, “I can deal with it later.”
It has been one of those weeks where I’ve been working through all sorts of emotions– not necessarily “good” or “bad” — just stuff. More and more, I am understanding the importance of working through the “stuff” that comes up. I’ve been taking the time to get out my mat and show up, to breathe, to unplug and to ask questions, to inquire more, to get really curious. What is this telling me? Why is this showing up right now? What does this mean? If we don’t deal with it now, we are going to deal with it at some point… and chances are it may be a lot deeper, heavier and more intense then.
If we find a way to understand these thoughts, emotions and sensations when they arise, we can understand how to respond to them, without REACTING to others. Take a deeper look into how these emotions show up for you.. and whether you dig deeper into curiosity or you don’t deal with it all– notice how you then SHOW UP in the world: at work, with those around you + those you love and also notice how you show up for yourself.
